This topic came up at my Pleasure Party on Saturday night. Since strong is the new sexy, would you
be flattered if someone said “wow, you look so strong?”
I read a recent survey that said that the favorite compliments women like to recieve are as follows:
1. Wow, you look skinny. Or, “you look thinner.”
2. You have a beautiful smile.
3. You smell so good. (Or my personal favorite, “you smell yummy.”)
According to “Ask Men” they say these compliments are ones that women cannot resist:

1. I could talk to you all night long.
2. I like the way your mind works.
3. You look fantastic.
Personally, I think you can get yourself into trouble commenting about a woman’s weight. I would suggest you stick to something like “that color looks fantastic on you” or “you look great in that” as opposed to saying you look thinner…which could imply you thought she looked fat the last time you saw her. (Some women are SUPER sensitive about their weight.)

My two favorites are “your smile is like sunshine” and “those jeans (can also insert the word “dress”) look fabulous on you”. Personally I don’t like when people comment about weight.
Yep, I’d be flattered if someone said I looked strong. I’d also feel good if someone said I looked fit . Strangely, I wouldn’t be flattered if I was told I looked “skinny”. I imagine that people would say that to a woman to compliment her, but the word “skinny” conjures up an image of a gangly, unhealthy looking twig of a woman to me (picture Popeye’s girlfriend, Olive Oyl).
I agree with the “beautiful smile” and “you smell good” compliments.
Those would make me feel good, too!

How about “wow, you look very healthy” ?
Well, then, Caroline, those jeans look fabulous on you!
I’ve always been thin, and people often comment how skinny I am. I don’t necessarily want to be skinny; I think that curvy and voluptuous is much more appealing! However, I’ve been working out a lot over the past 8 months, and I changed my diet completely to dairy- and egg-free, and the comments I’ve received for the first time ever have changed to “You are in such great shape!” Now THAT feels good because I’ve been working really hard to accomplish it. It makes me want to share my workout and nutrition secrets with everyone 🙂
You looked RADIANT and beautiful when I saw you yesterday, so I am not surprised people are telling you how healthy you look.
I love you is the best compliment anyone can give.
The best compliment I get regularly is, ‘Mary, I love
your laugh’. That is so sweet to me because they are
basically telling me they like my personality which I
believe is my very BEST quality. I have many others,
but that one has been the constant that has kept me
sane through all of life’s challenges.
Men I’ve loved have held back on compliments.
I always wondered why. My estranged husband said
it was because he didn’t want me to get a swelled head.
Hmmmmmmm…! At an LA dinner party last week
one of the guests later texted me that I was
enchantingly innocent. It was LA but still, I thought
that was beautiful and true…
